The Agliánico grape was, as the story tells, Alexander the Great’s personal favourite; he took it on his travels throughout Magna Grecia. This grape variety represents the Greek soul, legacy and conquering spirit. That same spirit is what constantly inspires us to explore new paths, to discover the unknown. It was necessary to wait several years after the first vines were planted, to achieve a wine with a Greek soul and an Argentine heart that made them proud. A very marked acidity makes this natural wine unique.
About the Domain:
Right in the middle of the hills of Luján de Cuyo, in the province of Mendoza, out of sight from the world, there is a winery where, Constantino and Silvina Krontiras, nested their love for wine. The sacred geometry of the location gently embraces the fruit of its biodynamic vineyards from which our wines are born, as a pure expression of terroir.
Early in the morning, a gentle breeze descends from the Andes following the Mendoza River and embraces the 120-year-old Malbec and Tempranillo vines along with our fruit trees. The vineyard is also home to our small farm with cows, sheep, horses, donkeys and llamas.
Young and vigorous, the second part of the vinyards (Villa Seca vineyard) boasts a microclimate with cool nights and very hot days that favour the organic and biodynamic cultivation of Malbec, Petit Verdot, Agliánico and Chardonnay.
The winery is naturally integrated with Lunlunta vineyard. The building architecture is inspired by biodynamic principles based on ancient “sacred geometry”.
They apply the golden ratio φ (1.618) and π (3.14) to create an excellent environment for winemaking and aging. Natural insulating materials such as straw, have been used to save energy, making sure that the use of natural resources is truly rational.
