Australian Discovery 6 pack
From Australia with love. Discover a wide range of the best Australian natural wines with this new 6 pack:
WINE 1: BINK - Crossroads Chardonnay 2021
Without being to rude about it, smells like Chablis. Crushed oyster shells, nashi pear, soft touch off acacia honey. Pear flavours in the first mouth with crisp mid palate and soft "Chardie" components in the end. This is one happy bunch of grapes! And makes one happy wine drinker!
WINE 2: BRASH HIGGINS - "R/SM" 2019
The ‘R/SM’ is Brash Higgins’ single vineyard “field blend” of two of the most underrated white varieties in the country, Riesling and Semillon.
The two varieties are dry grown side by side on a tiny vineyard in the foothills of McLaren Vale. Both varieties are picked on the same day, basket pressed and co-fermented in old French barriques. These two varieties strike a remarkable balance and harmony.
This bright white wine has all the emerald exuberance of Riesling cut with the lemony flesh of Semillon. Great summer drinking, and a riot with oysters, we are proud that this wine tastes like a true coastal white; its origins a mere 20 km from the Gulf of St. Vincent.
Blistering release of this unique McLaren Vale white wine.
WINE 3: GOOD INTENTIONS - Noir dee doot dah 2020
Known by Good Intentions as their party pinot, the vines of which grow up in volcanic soils over shallow limestone driving saline sharp mineral acidity through the juice. Carbonic maceration for entire fermentation lifts the wine with a light spritz. Fresh, bright and ‘tastes like red frogs’. We don’t doubt this. Another cracker from GI.
WINE 4: BINK - Little Red 2021
This is a weird and wonderful blend of Muscat, Riesling, Alicante Bouschet! Only a crazy person would mash these varieties together, but somehow in Koen’s hands, it just works.
Each of the varietals for this wine had its own journey to bottle, all doing their own thing before coming together in this unique and wild blend. Super bright on the nose, with green orchard fruits prancing over the pallet in harmony with crunchy little berries.
On a warm afternoon, this is just the juicy, jubey, bouncy chiller little red that you’ll be stinging for.
WINE 5: BASS PHILLIP - 17K Pinot Noir 2019
Upon opening, the 2019 17K reveals primary fruit notes and after half an hour or so the nose becomes much more resolved and interesting, showing its pedigree with bright cherries and blood plums along with raspberry notes.
The wine has a warmth and deliciousness reflecting the ripper nature of the vintage. The palate also reflects the ripe vintage with its sumptuous textural mid palate, finely polished core of tannins and lingering red fruit flavours. Give the wine a little time after opening for the fruit flavours to shine… as there is no new oak to hide behind.
WINE 6: SMALLFRY - Stella Luna 2020
A further extension into the fresh young red space from our Joven starting point, Stella takes us to a whole new level. As our Cinsault plantings bear fruit it is a pleasure to be exploring the potential of this variety to counter the effects of climate change. Blending with some lovely whole bunch fermented Shiraz has brought a roundness and darker fruit aspect without diminishing the vibrancy of the wine. There is a buzz around the concept of juiciness or wine that makes you salivate that is so very now and represents the current contribution to the wine lexicon that this wine fully encapsulates.
