A gragrant nose of redcurrant, strawberry jam, dried herbs.
A palate is worth following, highly fruity from carbonic macération, with barrel ageing adding a lovely structure.
Issued from 30 years old vines grown on granitic soils, hand harvested, whole bunch, carbonic macération for 15 days, followed by 10 months of aging in half old barrels and half concrete vats.
About the winemaker :
Raphael Saint Cyr is the fourth generation vigneron at Domaine Saint Cyr in Anse, on the southern edge of Beaujolais. He took over with his wife in 2008 and immediately converted the 23 hectares to certified organic.
Each cuvée is split into single vineyard parcels, with the terroir the name for each wine. All cuvées are fermented with natural yeasts in concrete tanks and then aged in old barrels for 12-18 months.
