'Atlas' Pinot Noir expertly blends multiple clones, offering a refined, balanced expression of this beloved variety. With a deeper fruit profile than 'Venus' but a lighter weight compared to the 2022 vintage, 'Atlas' achieves harmony between its vibrant acidity, ripe fruit, and savory tannins. Notes of raspberry and plum combine with a subtle herbal lift and earthy undertones, creating a wine that’s both complex and inviting. The fine, savory tannins and cleansing acidity leave the palate refreshed, with a lingering desire for more.

Crafted from a mix of Pinot Noir clones—777 (39%), 115 (36%), and 10/5 (25%)—this wine undergoes 83% whole-bunch fermentation over 4 to 9 days, imparting a distinctive whole-bunch influence. 'Atlas' is then aged for nine months in a combination of small and large format old wood, resulting in a nuanced and polished Pinot Noir that showcases both elegance and structure.

About the Domaine:

Unkel, a playful take on the word "uncle," embodies a philosophy deeply rooted in respect for nature. In the vineyard, the focus is on working harmoniously with Mother Nature to cultivate the best possible fruit. Once the grapes enter the winery, the approach shifts to one of gentle guidance rather than control. Unkel takes on the role of that easy-going, fun, slightly wild family member who steps back and allows the wine to develop naturally through fermentation and aging.

The goal is to let the wine express itself authentically, capturing the true essence of the fruit. In essence, Unkel creates wines meant to be enjoyed in the company of friends and family, shared with joy, on any occasion, and with a smile.
