'Venus' is a delicately crafted multi-clonal Pinot Noir that presents a more feminine expression compared to 'Atlas.' This lighter-bodied wine features vibrant notes of rhubarb, sweet plum, cherries, and currants, complemented by a subtle herbal lift. Its refreshing character makes it incredibly drinkable, with a perfect balance of juicy fruit, silky whole-bunch influence, fine tannins, and bright acidity.

This Pinot Noir is composed of a blend of clones: 10/5 (49%), 667 (25%), 114 (15%), and 115 (11%). It undergoes 47% whole-bunch fermentation, with half of that undergoing carbonic maceration. The individual parcels ferment for 6 to 10 days before being pressed into a mix of small and large format old wood, where they age for nine months. The result is a wine that showcases elegance and complexity, ideal for those seeking a refined Pinot Noir experience.

About the Domaine:

Unkel, a playful take on the word "uncle," embodies a philosophy deeply rooted in respect for nature. In the vineyard, the focus is on working harmoniously with Mother Nature to cultivate the best possible fruit. Once the grapes enter the winery, the approach shifts to one of gentle guidance rather than control. Unkel takes on the role of that easy-going, fun, slightly wild family member who steps back and allows the wine to develop naturally through fermentation and aging.

The goal is to let the wine express itself authentically, capturing the true essence of the fruit. In essence, Unkel creates wines meant to be enjoyed in the company of friends and family, shared with joy, on any occasion, and with a smile.
